Pediatric Services Services

In order to better meet the needs of our younger community, Central Mississippi Medical Center has staffed two inpatient hospitalists, Dr. Sharon Wilt and Dr. Izzeddin Kamelmaz, as part of our pediatrics department. Pediatric hospitalists are physicians who provide specialized care to infants and children exclusively within the hospital environment. Our pediatric hospitalists work with your regular doctor, keeping them informed of your child’s treatment, condition and progress throughout hospitalization.

The types of diseases and illnesses generally cared for on the Pediatric unit include but are not limited to the following:

  • Respiratory Diseases (including Asthma, Pneumonia, RSV, Croup)
  • Communicable Diseases (including Chicken Pox, RSV, MRSA, etc.)
  • Gastrointestinal Diseases (including Gastroenteritis, Rotavirus, etc.)
  • Sepsis
  • IV therapy
  • Care of the Pre/Post Surgical patient (fractures, abscess, surgeries of the abdomen, extremities, etc.)
