O-ARM® Imaging System Services

At Central Mississippi Medical Center, we know how important it is to return to a normal life as soon as possible after spinal surgery.

That’s why Central Mississippi Medical Center is the first hospital in the state to offer the O-ARM® Multideimensional Imaging System.

The mobile O-ARM® Imaging System is a multi-dimensional surgical imaging platform that is optimized for use in spine and orthopaedic surgery.

By combining the best features of a traditional c-arm with an intra-operative 3D scanner, the O-ARM® System produces the high-resolution imaging needed to achieve minimally invasive procedures and consistently improve patient outcomes. Its features include:

  • Patented telescoping gantry that enables lateral patient access
  • “O” shaped gantry allows for 2-D fluoroscopy and 3-D imaging
  • Robotic positioning with automatic return to preset positions allows for faster imaging, easy patient access, reduced radiation exposure and reduced imaging time
  • Digital flat panel detector provides superior image quality and a very large field of view
  • Seamless Navigation Interface featuring automatic registration and image transfer

Triple Modality for Precision and Ease-of-Use

The O-ARM® System operates in three modes to accommodate a variety of procedures:

  • 2D Fluoroscopy - Provides larger, higher resolution imaging and image displays than the conventional c-arm, as well as larger anatomical views than conventional image viewers. Robotics allow for easier positioning AP to Lateral and using wag.
  • M2D - Multi-plane 2D - Robotics enable the surgeon to program five views into memory, including a “Park” position. The “Park” position allows the system to stay in the surgical field while maintaining unobstructed access.
  • 3D Volumetric Imaging - In this 3D mode, axial, coronal, and sagittal images are created in the operative position. The O-ARM® System has two 3D modes:

Standard and High Definition 3D (HD3D)

Standard: in approximately 30 seconds complete a standard 3D spin, taking almost 400 images and then reconstruct and project this data on the 30-inch flat panel monitor. This mode allows surgeons to obtain a post-op 3D scan prior to completing the procedure.

HD3D: Provides high resolution images for increased visability with the ability to produce 750 images over 360 degrees in 25 seconds. Once the images are acquired, the O-ARM® System can reconstruct and project the data in less than 25 seconds.

Precision and Convenience

The O-ARM® System provides a convenient and cost effective solution through:

  • Excellent Image Quality - Superb images and large field of views are a result of the digital flat panel detector. Real-time high quality images allow for easier decision-making and improved patient outcomes.
  • Time & Dose Reduction - Robotically controlled programmable re-positioning results in faster imaging and reduced dose to the surgeon and staff.
  • Sterility & Safety Improvements - Improved sterility over conventional C-arms because the O-ARMSystem does not travel through the sterile field. An easy-to-use, one-time custom drape also improves sterility. The O-ARM® System provides a safer OR atmosphere with all moving parts enclosed in the gantry.
